Is the server running locally and acceptingĬonnections on Unix domain socket "/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432"?" ![]() Psql: could not connect to server: No such file or directory If I type this in the terminal: "sudo -u postgres psql postgres" I get: I've also left the password field blank in case it was a login failure error (same result). It then says something like: "connection refused, is your server on localhost (127.0.0.1) setup to accept TCP/IP connections on port 5432?'. I have tried "Add a connection to a server" option in PGAdmin iii (which is pretty much the only option in the program) and I put in the name, the host as "localhost", the user/pass: postgres/dbpass, port 5432 and get a "Server Doesn't Listen" error. Could anybody provide me with a walk through on how to get PT4 and postgres/pgadmin III setup or point me to the right threads online for help? I did a lot of digging around the last time I set it up before I was able to get it working properly. ![]() I do not remember how to configure postgres to allow PT4 to connect to it. I'm re-installing PT4 along with Pgadmin III 9.5 on Ubuntu 15.10 after a hard drive failure.
